چکیده

With water resources constantly becoming scarcer, and 70% of freshwater used for the agriculture sector, there is a growing need innovative methods to increase use efficiency (WUE) food production systems provide nutrient-dense an increasing population. Sensor technology has recently been introduced horticulture industry resource minimize environmental impacts excessive use. Identifying effects irrigation levels on crop performance crucial success sensor-based management. This research aimed optimize WUE in soilless microgreen system through identification optimal level using sensor that could facilitate development more efficient, low-cost automated system. A dielectric moisture was implemented monitor at five setpoints: 7.5, 17.5, 25, 30, 35 percent effective volume container (EVC) during 14-day growth cycle. To validate performance, same were applied parallel trial, without sensor, monitored gravimetrically. Plant status stress reaction evaluated infrared thermal imaging, accumulation osmolytes (proline) determined. Results showed that, proline concentration, canopy temperature (Tc), depression (CTD), index (CWSI) increased 7.5% EVC both gravimetric treatments, (Ig) fresh yield decreased. The WUE. 17.5% found be optimal. It resulted 88 g/L, improvement 30% over method level. Furthermore, by 11.5%. outcome this study contribute automation precision hydroponically grown microgreens.

A genetic algorithm for optimizing off-farm irrigation scheduling

This paper examines the use of genetic algorithm (GA) optimization to identify water delivery schedules for an open-channel irrigation system. Significant objectives and important constraints are identified for this system, and suitable representations of these within the GA framework are developed. Objectives include maximizing the number of orders that are scheduled to be delivered at the req...

Sawdust and Bark-Based Substrates for Soilless Strawberry Production: Irrigation and Electrical Conductivity Management

The objective of this work was to optimize a soilless growing system for producing bare-root strawberry transplants in three organic substrates. Three trials were conducted in the Quebec City area to determine the productivity potential of a peat-sawdust mixture (PS25) and an aged bark (AB) material compared to conventional coconut fiber (CF) substrate. A first experiment was carried out to def...

Optimizing nutrient management for farm systems.

Increasing the inputs of nutrients has played a major role in increasing the supply of food to a continually growing world population. However, focusing attention on the most important nutrients, such as nitrogen (N), has in some cases led to nutrient imbalances, some excess applications especially of N, inefficient use and large losses to the environment with impacts on air and water quality, ...

Growing Plants in Soilless Culture: Operational Conclusions

The previous chapters present various specific facets of soilless plant production, representing the state of the art and include some perspectives on the direction in which the field is moving. In some cases, gaps in knowledge were pointed out and required future research was suggested. Generally the chapters focus on particular facets of a system whose full complexity was beyond the scope of ...

Optimizing Soil Moisture Uniformity and Irrigation Management

This research is a study on the relationship of irrigation water treatments and soil moisture distribution uniformity (DU). Soil moisture distribution was based on long-term data sets that were collected during wet and dry soil conditions (from permanent wilting point to field capacity) using a novel electromagnetic sensor-based platform moving inside subsurface horizontal access-tubes. The irr...
